The Tiverton Staghounds

The Hunt was founded in 1896 by Sir John heathcote Amory, Bt., of Knightshayes Court, Tiverton, at the suggestion of Mr Sanders, the then Master of the Devon & Somerset Saghounds, to hunt outlying deer beyond the limits of his extensive territory. For many years the pack was hunted by Ian heathcoat-Amory Esq with another son of Sir John L Heathcoat-Amory whipping-in.

Masters (1995) P J Lucas Esq., (1995) S Kelland Esq. Huntsman (1995) John Norrish, Whipper-in (1996) Peter Norrish. Hounds 46 couple kennelled at Worlington.

The country is mostly in Devon, loaned by the Devon and Somerset Staghounds and combines withe the foxhunt countries of the Tiverton, Eggesord, Dulverton (East), Dulverton (West), Torrington Farmers and South Tetcott. A largely moorland country, with pasture and some plough and woodland.
